Songkhla, City of Nag and Mermaid (Exploring Southern Thailand, last part)

Singapore? No, take a look closer on the statue. Yep, it’s not Merlion. It’s Nag the Serpent, the iconic statue of Songkhla, half hour driving from Hat Yai. On the last day of exploring southern Thailand, I moved to another city. Leaving Aonang in the early morning, the minivan took me to Hat Yai. While some other tourists decided to stay in Hat Yai and enjoyed the city crowd, I continued the journey to Songkhla by taxi. Songkhla is one of tiny province in the south of Thailand which becomes the melting pot of ethnic diversity (Thai, Chinese, Malay and other visitors). This important  port city is flanked by two famous beaches,  Samila dan Son Awn, and popularly known as “the great city on two seas”. It was 04.30 pm when I arrived in town and checked in at a cheap yet comfy and fancy hotel. Without wasting further time, I rented a bike to have a short city tour while hunting the sunset on the beach. Although not as dense and as hectic as Hat Yai, …

Ao Nang, Another Beach City (Exploring Southern Thailand, part 3)

We got beaches in mind Man, it’s been too much time Not a care in the world is where I wanna be Beaches in mind… As a boy who loves beach so bad, sandy shore and breaking waves do turn me on. Therefore, every time I have my trip schedule, I will always pencil in beach agenda on the priority list. No matter, if the major plan is going to a landlocked region, I will insert another visit to its neighbor which has beaches. Too much, though, but that’s how I value my vacation 😀 This is why, on the next day, after spending the whole day in Phi-phi Don, I kept visiting Ao Nang–though Phi-phi did give me great beachgasm. Ao Nang is another beach city which could be found in Thailand besides Pattaya and Phuket. Ao Nang also becomes one of Krabi highlights which has to be visited. After one and half hour leaving Phi-phi Don and being tossed around on ferry, I came back to Krabi to continued the journey to Ao Nang by …

Phi-phi Island View Point (Exploring Southern Thailand, part 2)

It was day two and the ferry which would bring me to my next destination had slowly left Krabi pier. Yup, the next agenda was visiting Phi-phi island, one of Thailand must visit island. This island began to hit its peak popularity when Leonardo Dicaprio and the Beach movie crews took some scene there. I didn’t remember which scene it was, but some said that the Island is worth a visit for it wonderful scenery. When arrived at Phi-phi pier, I was greeted by some people showing boards with different home stay names on it. Thanks God, the home stay name which I booked by online was there too. Therefore I didn’t need to look around searching for it by my self and then getting lost. The guy then took my backpack and led the way. And again, I was thanking God for meeting this guy. The pathway in this island were way way too much and yet complicated. We walked straight then turned left, turned right again, then turned left again, then walked straight, and …

Sawadee Krub Krabi! (Exploring Southern Thailand, part 1)

It was approximately 09.00 AM after a long and boring queue in Krabi International Airport Immigration border. I got out of the airport and took shuttle bus to town. Krabi province is located on the west coast of Southern Thailand, particularly in the south of Thailand’s Andaman seaboard. Beside Aonang as the highlight of the province, Krabi town, as I read, is also a recommended place to spend a night or two. The shuttle bus dropped me at a the office, before letting me to take a free taxi to the hostel where I stayed for one night. It took less than five minutes to get to the hostel which was located at the heart of the town. The town was a tranquil at that morning. Less cars were passing by and it seemed like the daily activity hadn’t really yet begun. While waiting for the crowd getting awaken, I had a few hours resting in the bedroom. However, as I woke up at noon and got out walking around, the crowd wasn’t still that …

Phuket Fantasea (Phuket part 2-end)

Setelah bosan, kami mulai mencari sarapan. Nah, this is one of the hardest part that we experienced in Patong.

(Phuket part 1)
