6 Must Try South Celebes Delicacy (Apa Kareba Makassar, part 3)

South Celebes culinary is very authentic with its special ingredients and its spicy taste. Here are ten must try foods you can find in town: 1. Horse Coto As its name, this Coto uses Horse meat as its main ingredient. So this meat is cooked with herbs and spices as in Coto Makassar. I had the opportunity to taste this unique food on my trip to Tanjung Bira Makassar last November. The broth is thicker and flavorful, served with lemon juice that makes the meat tastier. 2. Yellow Rice Yellow could be found here also, with variant side dishes like boiled egg, sauteed potatoes, shredded beef, etc. 4.  Mie Titi Mi Titi is another must try dish when visiting the city. Located in Jalan Datumuseng, The restaurant serves variant kinds of noodles. And of course, the signature dish is Mi Titi it selfs.  Enjoy the crispy grilled noodle which is topped by savory broth, vegetable and chicken meat. 5. Facts about Toraja, Land of Kings (Apa Kareba Makassar, part 2)

Hanging coffin is a unique funeral tradition which could be mostly found in Asia, such as China, the Philippines and Indonesia. Instead of burying the coffin under the ground,  people of Bo in China, or Sagada in the Philippines, and Toraja in Indonesia put the coffin hung the coffin hundreds feet up the side of the cliff. Those people believe that the higher the coffin placed, the dead will be conferred an honor. Day two in South Celebes, I and some friends was given the opportunity to visit Toraja regency. Eight hours riding on the night bus, we were dropped at the city. Our one day Toraja tour would be visiting some traditional village which still hold the hanging coffin tradition. After renting two motorcycle, we started our journey, passing through the road along Rantepao-Makale. There lies some traditional villages which are reached by following the roadside sign. More or less, here are the map:  Map taken from Biru Langit’s property on: http://b1rulang1t.blogspot.com/search/label/sulawesi. As I read, there are some must visit site stretched along the way …

Sunset at Crowdy Losari (Apa Kareba Makassar, part 1)

When people talk about Makassar, people will not forget to mention Losari beach, an iconic and must visit site. If Bali has Kuta, Makassar has Losari. But rather different than the “beach definition”, Losari is more like a dock edges with a square and some stone bench provided for visitors who wants to hangout. Started from the evening, the spot where you can take a picture with “Pantai Losari” sign (eng: Losari Beach) is crowded not only by the visitors but also street food vendors. Yup, I can tell you that this site is way perfect for all age leisure! Both old and young can sit and having light chitchat. Couple can enjoy the golden sunset view which pours on. Children can ride small motorcycle or scooter to go around. And  the hunger can pick some savory food with local taste. Finished enjoying sunset, there are a lot of activities you might be interested in. If you hate the crowd, from here, services are often offered by tour operators to visit some near islands like …

Traveling is not only about how you enjoy the sandy beach or greeny mountain. Agrotourism has long become one of alternative way to spend a non mainstream holiday.Through this trip, the visitor can experience what is like to be a real farmer by planting the seeds or harvesting the crops. Based on Ecotour directory, the concept of agrotourism is a direct expansion of ecotourism, which encourages visitors to experience agricultural life at first hand. Purbalingga, one of city I passed through is one of ideal site to have the agrotourism experience.Located at the foot of the mountain Slamet, this site is endowed with a mild climate that is suitable for farming activities. Along the way, I met a wide yard with vegetable plantations of diverse varieties. Not only that, many houses prefer to grow tomatoes, leaks, cauliflower and other fruits or vegetables at their yards. If you’re already accustomed to enjoy the sun or the Tulip flower gardens, carrot garden could also show its beauty with her pale blooming green flowers. Hanging chilies and tomato …
