Wayag! This is What I call Paradise! (Raja Ampat, the Last Paradise on Earth, part 3, End)

The day was getting scorcher in Raja Ampat archipelago. After one night staying in Sawandarek island, I and Raj48 crews were heading directly to our major destination, Wayag!! Well, what is wayag and what is so special with Wayag? Well you might ever see an advertisement about Raja Ampat which shows a very beautiful scenery of a cluster of limestone which lies on blue greeny waters. That is Wayag! Located in West Waigeo village, Raja Ampat, Papua, Wayag will hypnotize you with its magnificent view from the top of the island. To get there, you can stay a night in Waisai or in one of islands which provides home stay–I and Raj48 squad stayed in Bianci island.Β  Wayag becomes the icon of Raja Ampat for its incredible view. Some said, if you did not visit Wayag when coming to Raja Ampat, you have not really visited the Raja Ampat yet. It took like half hour to get to Wayag from Bianci island by our speed boat. First, we stopped at an island to report our …

Island Hopping in Paradise (Raja Ampat, the Last Paradise on Earth, part 2)

Let me introduce you to the squad, friends whom I spent the time with during Raja Ampat tour… At 9 AM, we already arrived at the harbor and the speedboat had been waiting for us. After the crew took all the bags inside the boat, all of us got into the boat and left the harbor. We were super excited and could not wait to get to Raja Ampat soon, one of most favorite dream destination in Indonesia. Raja Ampat is an archipelago which constitutes four major islands (Waigeo, Misool, Bantata, and Salawati) and some small islands. Raja Ampat is not only well known by its iconic cluster of islandsΒ  which could be seen in the top of Wayag island. Raja Ampat also has a very magnificent underwater world which is enriched with biodiversity, schools of fish, colorful coral reefs, and other deep-sea creatures which will provoke your enthusiasm. I and Raj48 (how our trip group named) spent most of our entire days hopping from one to other beautiful and natural islands. Each island has …

Hey Sorong (Raja Ampat, the Last Paradise on Earth, part 1)

Good morning Sorong, West Papua. It’s 1 PM here at local time, and I have just arrived at Domine Eduard Osok airport with some of my friends. It was rather different with my two other friends, that was my first time being in Papua, East Indonesia. Super excited was my feeling at that time, because all I know, without the promo fare of an airline, I don’t think that I can leave my footprint on this island. Yapp, Papua island is located in the most eastern part of Indonesia. For me who stay in Sumatra island–the most western island in Indonesia–the normal fare for return ticket to Sorong (one of the cities in West Papua) would be rather expensive, almost the same with return ticket to India, I guess. Domine Eduard Osok Airport After a few minutes waiting for the baggage, I and my three other friends, Rahma, Ika and Agato went out of the airport. There were already Zee (our tour operatior), Tison and Moory (Agato’s friends). Tison and Moory offered us their place …

A Little Brainstorming about Raja Ampat

Before writing about Raja Ampat, I’m sort of tickled to make this short notes. It’s not intended to patronize or to judge you as the reader. It is more about how i try to depict what is on my mind when I saw people say “Raja Ampat is so expensive”, while they can travel out of South East Asia. Not more than a week after I changed my profile pic on FB, the picture has got 75 likes. Well, it doesn’t mean that I am super cute that people become so attracted with the pic. The picture turns to be epic because it was taken in Wayag island, Raja Ampat archipelago, West Papua. Yupp, comments posted also show how some of my friends are really amazed by the scenery and how they really wish they could have the same opportunity. Quite make a sense, return ticket of Jakarta-Sorong-Jakarta costs almost IDR 4 mio,- (USD 400). Hiring the boat to go to Wayag island (Raja Ampat icon) might cost around IDR 6 mio- 10 mio (USD …
